      OBITUARY of Rev. Yvette Dube
Rev. Yvette Dube, a member of MCC San Diego, died on the evening of July 23, 2009, following a five-year battle with breast cancer.

Yvette, the former pastor of MCC Escondido in San Diego County, California, was active in MCC San Diego’s Celebration Choir and wrote Bible studies for the outreach ministry, Freeing The Spirit. Her Bible commentaries can be found online at http://www.freeingthespirit.org.

Rev. Dube made history in 1996 when she participated in the final campaign debate between U.S. presidential candidates Bill Clinton and Bob Dole. She posed the final question of the debate, asking “…why people are using the term ‘special rights’ when the question is ‘equal rights’” for LGBT people. That debate marked the first time LGBT issues were addressed during a U.S. nationally televised presidential debate.

Plans for a memorial service celebrating Rev. Yvette Dube’s life and ministry are pending. Information will be posted on the website of MCC San Diego at http://www.MCCSD.org when it becomes available.

We give thanks to God for the faithful witness of Rev. Yvette Dube and encourage you to remember her family and many friends with your prayers.
