My Partner. She had been going to MCC for 10+ years.
Describe your first visit to MCC. Please include the church’s name.
The first day I walked in to MCC of Winston Salem, NC I was very nervous. I had been out of church for many years because I didn’t know there was a church for me. I had been told God don’t love you because you are Gay. Everyone made me feel at home and I knew the first night that God did still love me and I was beginning a brand new walk with God.

Who preached the sermon that you’ve never forgotten? Do you remember the name of the sermon? Where were you when you heard it?
Rev. Elder Arlene Ackerman at the regional Conference last November in Pittsburgh, Pa. It was a gospel sermon and she had the spirit of God on her and it fell all over me.
Who influenced you the most in MCC?
Rev. Elder Arlene Ackerman and our Moderator Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson

The love they have for us and how they want to get the word out to all people that, “We are here and God loves everyone.”

What do you like best about your local church?
Our new pastor has a vision that no one has every had before. All the people in my church all have the same goal. We want the whole surrounding area to know the God still loves them and we are here to welcome them in.
